Description
3/8" & 1/2" High Pressure Brass Solenoid Valve 0.5–50 Bar – CS Fluid Power NOHPV
The CS Fluid Power NOHPV is a high-pressure 2/2 way normally open brass solenoid valve designed for reliable fail-open control of air, water, light oils and compatible gases at working pressures up to 50 Bar.
Available with 3/8" or 1/2" BSP threaded connections, the NOHPV uses a pressure-assisted diaphragm design with a large 15mm orifice, providing approximately 64.35 L/min water flow at 1 Bar pressure differential.
The valve remains open without electrical power and closes when energised, making it particularly suitable for high-pressure systems where flow must be maintained during a power failure.
Two coil configurations are available: a 12W WPG1 operator for pressures up to 40 Bar and a higher-power 18W WPG2 operator for applications requiring pressures up to 50 Bar.
Valve Function & Operation
Function: 2/2 way normally open
Operation: Pressure assisted
Failsafe position: Open
Energised position: Closed
Minimum differential pressure: 0.5 Bar
The NOHPV is a normally open solenoid valve, meaning the valve remains open when electrically de-energised. Applying electrical power energises the solenoid operator and closes the valve.
When electrical power is removed or lost, the valve automatically returns to its normally open position.
This fail-open operating principle is particularly useful in industrial processes where continued flow is required during an electrical power failure.
The pressure-assisted design requires a minimum 0.5 Bar inlet-to-outlet pressure differential for correct operation.
Ports & Connections
Port sizes:
✓ 3/8" BSP
✓ 1/2" BSP
Optional connection:
✓ NPT thread
The choice of 3/8" and 1/2" connections allows the NOHPV to be used across a wide range of high-pressure pneumatic, water, gas and industrial process systems.
Pressure & Performance
Standard pressure range: 0.5 to 40 Bar
High-pressure option: 0.5 to 50 Bar
Minimum differential pressure: 0.5 Bar
Orifice size: 15mm
Flow rate: 64.35 L/min water @ 1 Bar ΔP
The large 15mm orifice provides substantially greater flow capacity than many small-orifice high-pressure solenoid valves.
For applications up to 40 Bar, the valve is fitted with the 12W WPG1 solenoid operator.
For applications requiring pressures up to 50 Bar, the higher-power 18W WPG2 operator is used.
High Flow 15mm Orifice
Orifice: 15mm
Flow rate: 64.35 L/min water @ 1 Bar pressure differential
The NOHPV combines high-pressure capability with a relatively large flow path, making it particularly useful where both pressure capability and useful flow capacity are required.
Its 15mm pressure-assisted diaphragm design provides approximately 64.35 L/min water flow at 1 Bar differential pressure while allowing working pressures up to 50 Bar.
Construction & Materials
Body: Brass
Internal components: Stainless steel
Seal options:
✓ EPDM
✓ NBR
✓ FKM (Viton)
The brass valve body provides a robust and economical solution for high-pressure air, water and compatible fluid applications, while stainless steel internal components provide strength and corrosion resistance.
Different seal materials can be selected according to the process fluid and operating temperature.
Always confirm chemical compatibility between the media, brass body, stainless steel internals and selected seal material before ordering.
Suitable Media
Depending upon the selected seal material, the NOHPV can be used with:
✓ Compressed air
✓ Water
✓ Neutral gases
✓ Light oils
✓ Compatible process fluids
Media compatibility depends upon the selected seal compound and complete valve materials.
For unusual gases, chemicals, fuels or process fluids, compatibility should be confirmed before ordering.

✓ High-pressure fluid control
High Pressure Fail-Open Design
The CS Fluid Power NOHPV provides an unusual combination of normally open fail-safe operation, a large 15mm orifice and working pressures up to 50 Bar.
Unlike normally closed valves, the NOHPV remains open without electrical power and energises to close. This makes it particularly useful where the required safe condition during a power failure is continued fluid or gas flow.
Its pressure-assisted design provides significantly greater flow capacity than would normally be practical with a direct-acting high-pressure solenoid valve, while the choice of 40 Bar and 50 Bar coil configurations allows the valve to be matched to the required operating pressure.
