Description
1/2"–2" 2-Way UPVC Pneumatic Ball Valve – 0–10 Bar
The 2-Way UPVC Pneumatic Ball Valve is a corrosion-resistant air actuated ON/OFF valve designed for automatic control of water, compatible chemicals, liquids and process fluids.
Available from 1/2" to 2" BSP (DN15–DN50), with corresponding metric socket connections from 20mm to 63mm, the valve can be supplied with either a double acting or spring return single acting pneumatic actuator.
The UPVC valve body, PTFE seats and choice of EPDM or FKM (Viton) seals provide a versatile automated valve solution for water treatment, chemical dosing, industrial processing, cooling and general fluid handling systems.
Valve Function & Operation
This 2-way pneumatic ball valve provides automatic ON/OFF isolation of the process line.
The quarter-turn ball valve is operated by a pneumatic rack-and-pinion actuator and is available in two configurations:
Double Acting – compressed air is used to drive the valve both open and closed.
Spring Return Single Acting – compressed air operates the valve in one direction, with an internal spring mechanism providing the return movement when the air supply is removed.
Spring-return operation is particularly useful where a defined valve position is required following loss of pneumatic control pressure.
Sizes & Connections
Available sizes:
✓ 1/2" BSP – DN15 – 20mm Socket
✓ 3/4" BSP – DN20 – 25mm Socket
✓ 1" BSP – DN25 – 32mm Socket
✓ 1-1/2" BSP – DN40 – 50mm Socket
✓ 2" BSP – DN50 – 63mm Socket
Connection options include:
✓ BSP threaded
✓ NPT threaded
✓ Metric solvent socket
This allows the same automated valve concept to be integrated into both threaded pipework and plastic process piping systems.
Pressure & Performance
Operating pressure: 0 to 10 Bar
Pneumatic actuator supply pressure: 5 to 8 Bar
Maximum media viscosity: 500 cSt
The valve can be mounted in any position, providing installation flexibility within pipework, plant and OEM equipment.
Construction & Materials
Valve body: UPVC
Valve seats: PTFE
Seals: EPDM or FKM (Viton)
UPVC provides excellent corrosion resistance for many water and chemical handling duties while also offering a lightweight alternative to metallic process valves.
The correct seal and valve material should always be selected according to the fluid, concentration, operating pressure and temperature.
Seal & Media Compatibility
Two elastomer seal options allow the valve to be configured for different applications.
EPDM – commonly selected for water and many compatible aqueous fluids.
FKM / Viton – available for applications where FKM provides better compatibility with the particular process fluid.
For chemical dosing or aggressive fluid applications, compatibility of the UPVC body, PTFE seats and selected elastomer seals should be checked against the exact chemical and operating conditions.
Temperature
Media temperature range: -15°C to +60°C
For chemical service, both material compatibility and the allowable operating pressure at the actual process temperature should be considered.
Pneumatic Actuator
The quarter-turn pneumatic actuator provides reliable automatic operation and incorporates standard industrial interfaces for straightforward valve and accessory mounting.
✓ Rack-and-pinion operation
✓ Double acting available
✓ Spring return available
✓ 5–8 Bar control air
✓ ISO 5211 valve mounting
✓ DIN 3337 interface
✓ NAMUR accessory interface
The NAMUR interface allows a compatible solenoid valve to be mounted directly onto the actuator, reducing external pneumatic tubing and producing a compact automated valve package.
NAMUR Solenoid Valve Option
A NAMUR solenoid valve can be supplied with the assembly to provide electrical control of the pneumatic actuator.
This enables the valve package to interface with PLCs, relays, process controllers and other industrial control systems.
Different control voltages and solenoid configurations can be selected according to the application.
APL210 Limit Switch Box Option
An APL210 valve position limit switch box can also be fitted where remote confirmation of valve position is required.
The switch box provides open and closed valve position feedback, making it particularly useful for automated process systems where the controller needs confirmation that the commanded valve movement has been completed.
Typical Applications
✓ Water treatment systems
✓ Chemical dosing systems
✓ Industrial process control
✓ Fluid transfer equipment
✓ Cooling water systems
✓ Water isolation systems
✓ Chemical processing equipment
✓ Automated plant and machinery
✓ OEM fluid control systems
✓ General ON/OFF process control
Complete Pneumatic Valve Automation
The modular construction allows the valve to be supplied as a straightforward air-operated valve or configured as a more complete automated package.
Typical options include:
Pneumatic Actuator → Double acting or spring return
NAMUR Solenoid Valve → Electrical actuator control
APL210 Limit Switch Box → Open/closed position feedback
This makes the range suitable for anything from simple pneumatic isolation through to PLC-controlled process automation.
Why Choose a UPVC Pneumatic Ball Valve?
UPVC ball valves are particularly useful where corrosion resistance, low weight and chemical compatibility are more important than the higher temperature capability of stainless steel or brass valves.
The full-bore ball valve design also provides a relatively unrestricted flow path when open, while pneumatic actuation provides fast and repeatable automatic ON/OFF control.
With BSP, NPT and metric socket connections, plus double acting or spring return actuator options, the range can be configured for a wide variety of industrial fluid control installations.
