The Z-Tide Industrial CHF Series is a full-open silent non-return check valve designed to prevent reverse flow while substantially reducing water hammer on pump discharge and high-flow water systems.
Unlike a conventional swing check valve, the CHF uses a spring-assisted cantilever plug design that closes rapidly as forward flow falls, helping prevent reverse-flow acceleration and the resulting hydraulic shock. Its patented full-open construction provides a large unrestricted flow path for high flow capacity with reduced pressure loss.
Available with ductile iron or stainless steel construction, the CHF Series is suitable for pump discharge lines, water distribution, cooling systems and demanding industrial process applications requiring reliable non-return protection.

The CHF allows unrestricted forward flow while automatically preventing reverse flow.
As pump flow decreases, the spring-assisted valve plug closes rapidly before significant reverse-flow velocity can develop. This helps minimise the hydraulic shock associated with conventional check valves following pump shutdown.
The manufacturer's sectional drawing also shows the distinctive cantilever-mounted plug, spring, sealing retainer and optional bypass valve arrangement.

NBR U-Ring Sealing
The CHF uses an NBR U-shaped sealing element.
Z-Tide design for sealing under both high and low pressure conditions, while allowing the valve gate to maintain effective sealing.
The semi-rounded plug is also designed to withstand higher pressure, while the plug and seat work together under elevated pressure to avoid the sealing element carrying the entire hydraulic load.
Full-Open High-Flow Design
One of the CHF Series' most important advantages is its full-flow lift-type construction.
When fully open, the valve plug is positioned away from the principal flow path rather than directly obstructing it.
This provides:

Silent Closing & Water Hammer Reduction
The spring applies restoring force to the valve plug.
