Description

Miniature 5/2 Way Double Solenoid Valve – PM521AD / PM521BD

The Shako PM521AD and PM521BD are ultra-compact 10mm wide 5/2 way double solenoid pneumatic valves designed for precise directional control of miniature double-acting pneumatic cylinders and actuators.

Featuring internal pilot operation and bistable double-solenoid control, the PM521 remains in its last switched position until the opposite solenoid is energised. This makes it ideal for compact automation equipment, OEM machinery, instrumentation and pneumatic systems requiring maintained directional control.

The PM521AD provides body-ported M3 connections for individual installation, while the PM521BD is designed for base mounting onto an M5 manifold system.

Double Solenoid Operation

The PM521AD / PM521BD uses two solenoids to provide bistable 5/2 way directional control.
Energising one solenoid shifts the valve spool to one operating position, directing compressed air to one side of the double-acting cylinder while exhausting the opposite side.
Energising the opposite solenoid shifts the spool to the reverse position.
Unlike the single-solenoid PM521AS / PM521BS spring-return version, the double-solenoid valve remains in its last switched position after the electrical signal is removed. The opposite solenoid must be energised to change the valve position.
This maintained-position operation can reduce coil energisation time and is particularly useful in pneumatic automation systems where the last commanded valve position needs to be retained.

PM521AD – Body Ported

The PM521AD incorporates M3 pneumatic connections directly into the valve body for individual installation.
Its ultra-compact 10mm width makes it particularly suitable for miniature machinery, instrumentation and OEM equipment where available installation space is restricted.

PM521BD – Base Mounted

The PM521BD is designed for base mounting onto the compatible M5 manifold system.
Multiple valves can therefore be assembled into a compact multi-station pneumatic control system, reducing individual tubing connections and installation space.
The manufacturer's ordering information identifies A as the body-ported configuration and B as the base-mounted configuration.

Manifold Options

PM521 base-mounted valves can be combined into compact multi-station manifold assemblies.
The manufacturer's dimensional information shows manifold arrangements from 2 through 10 stations, with other station quantities available through the ordering system.

Typical Applications

Quality & Reliability

The Shako PM521 Series combines a precision anodised aluminium body with an ultra-compact 10mm-wide design, rapid pneumatic switching and exceptionally low electrical power consumption.
The double-solenoid PM521AD / PM521BD provides maintained-position operation while retaining the compact dimensions and high cycling capability of the PM521 platform, making it particularly suitable for modern OEM and multi-valve automation systems.
