Description
3/4" Brass Assisted Lift Solenoid Valve – SHAKO PU220A-06
The SHAKO PU220A-06 is a high-flow 3/4" 2/2 way normally closed zero-rated assisted-lift brass solenoid valve designed for control of compressed air, water, vacuum, light oils and compatible gases and process fluids.
Combining an assisted-lift diaphragm with a large 20mm orifice, the PU220A-06 provides high flow capacity while retaining operation from zero positive pressure.
The valve can also operate under vacuum conditions, making it particularly versatile for OEM machinery, vacuum equipment, industrial automation, water systems and general fluid control applications where differential pressure cannot always be guaranteed.
Manufactured from forged brass with stainless steel internal components, the PU220A-06 is supplied with NBR seals as standard, with FKM (Viton), EPDM or HNBR alternatives available. Media temperatures from -40°C up to +180°C can be accommodated according to the selected seal material and suitable solenoid operator.
Valve Function & Operation
Function: 2/2 way normally closed
Operation: Zero-rated assisted lift
Construction: Diaphragm
Port size: 3/4" BSP
Optional thread: NPT
Orifice: 20mm
Effective area: 162mm²
The assisted-lift design combines direct mechanical lifting with diaphragm assistance, allowing the valve to operate from zero positive pressure while providing a substantially larger flow path than a conventional direct acting valve.
This makes the PU220A-06 particularly suitable for systems where little or no pressure differential is available at start-up.
The valve can also be used for suitable vacuum applications.
Pressure & Performance
AC pressure range: Vacuum to 8.5 Bar
DC pressure range: Vacuum to 5 Bar
Vacuum capability: Up to 80% vacuum
Maximum vacuum: Approximately -0.8 Bar
Not suitable between: -0.1 and +0.1 Bar
Orifice size: 20mm
Effective area: 162mm²
Flow rate: 72 L/min water @ 1 Bar ΔP
The large 20mm orifice provides high flow capacity while the assisted-lift construction allows operation from zero positive pressure.

Seal & Media Selection
Correct seal selection is essential when using the PU220A-06 with different fluids and temperatures.
NBR – Standard:
✓ -15°C to +80°C
✓ Air
✓ Water
✓ Neutral gases
✓ Mineral oil
FKM (Viton):
✓ -10°C to +180°C
✓ Fuel oil
✓ Gasoline / petrol
✓ High-test gasoline
✓ Diesel fuel
HNBR:
✓ -40°C to +150°C
✓ Air
✓ Water
✓ Gear oil
✓ Engine oil
EPDM:
✓ -5°C to +130°C
✓ Hot water
✓ Detergent liquids
Always confirm chemical compatibility of the selected seal and valve materials before use with fuels, gases, oils or specialist process fluids.
Media Temperature
The maximum media temperature is determined by the selected seal material and suitable solenoid operator.
NBR: -15°C to +80°C
FKM (Viton): -10°C to +180°C
EPDM: -5°C to +130°C
HNBR: -40°C to +150°C
Overall available range: -40°C to +180°C
Flow Performance
Orifice size: 20mm
Effective area: 162mm²
Flow rate: 72 L/min water @ 1 Bar ΔP
The large diaphragm and 20mm valve orifice provide substantially increased flow capacity compared with the smaller 3/8" and 1/2" PU220A models.
Unlike a conventional pressure-assisted diaphragm valve, the assisted-lift construction allows operation from zero positive pressure, making the PU220A-06 particularly useful for tank discharge, low-pressure water systems, vacuum equipment and applications where differential pressure cannot always be guaranteed.

High Flow Zero-Rated Design
The SHAKO PU220A-06 combines the high flow capability of a diaphragm valve with assisted-lift operation from zero positive pressure.
Its large 20mm orifice and 162mm² effective area provide substantially greater flow capacity than the smaller 3/8" and 1/2" PU220A models, making the PU220A-06 particularly suitable where increased flow is required through a compact 3/4" valve.
The mechanically assisted diaphragm allows the valve to operate where conventional pilot-operated valves may fail because insufficient pressure differential is available. This makes it particularly useful for tank outlets, gravity-fed water systems, vacuum equipment, low-pressure systems and industrial applications where pressure conditions can vary during operation.
The forged brass body and stainless steel internal components provide robust industrial construction, while NBR seals are supplied as standard. Optional FKM, EPDM and HNBR seals allow the valve to be configured for different compatible media and temperatures.
When fitted with the appropriate solenoid operator, the available media temperature range extends from -40°C with HNBR seals up to +180°C with FKM seals.
An optional ATEX explosion-protected configuration is also available for hazardous-area applications, with maximum operating pressure restricted to 3 Bar and maximum media temperature restricted to +80°C.
