Description

3/4" Stainless Solenoid Valve – SHAKO SPU220A-06

The SHAKO SPU220A-06 is a high-flow 3/4" 2/2 way normally closed zero-rated assisted-lift solenoid valve manufactured from corrosion-resistant 316 stainless steel.

Designed for compressed air, water, vacuum, light oils and compatible aggressive or high-purity process fluids, the SPU220A-06 is particularly suitable where brass construction is unsuitable.

The zero-rated assisted-lift diaphragm design allows operation from zero positive pressure while providing substantially greater flow capacity than a conventional direct acting valve. The valve is also suitable for vacuum service up to approximately 80% vacuum.

A large 20mm orifice provides approximately 72 L/min water flow at 1 Bar pressure differential. FKM (Viton) seals are fitted as standard, with NBR, EPDM and HNBR alternatives available. For AdBlue / DEF applications, select the EPDM seal configuration.

Valve Function & Operation

Function: 2/2 way normally closed
Operation: Zero-rated assisted lift
Construction: Diaphragm
Port size: 3/4" BSP
Optional threads: NPT or Rc
Orifice: 20mm
The SPU220A-06 is normally closed when electrically de-energised. Applying electrical power energises the solenoid operator and opens the valve.
Its assisted-lift construction combines direct mechanical lifting with diaphragm assistance, allowing operation from zero positive pressure without requiring the minimum differential pressure normally associated with conventional pilot-operated diaphragm valves.
The valve can also operate under suitable vacuum conditions.

Pressure & Performance

AC pressure range: Vacuum to 7 Bar
DC pressure range: Vacuum to 5 Bar
Vacuum capability: Up to 80% vacuum
Orifice size: 20mm
Flow rate: 72 L/min water @ 1 Bar ΔP
Opening / closing time: ≤50ms
The standard SPU220A-06 uses a 15W Class H solenoid operator and provides high flow capacity through its 20mm assisted-lift diaphragm.

Construction & Materials

Body: 316 stainless steel
Tube: Stainless steel
Internal components: Stainless steel
Construction: Assisted-lift diaphragm
Orifice: 20mm
Standard seal: FKM (Viton)
Optional seals:
✓ NBR
✓ EPDM
✓ HNBR
Standard shading ring: Copper
Optional shading ring: Silver
Optional: No shading ring
Installation: Coil upright
Net weight: Approximately 0.945kg

Seal & Media Selection

Correct seal selection is essential when using the SPU220A-06 with different fluids and temperatures.
FKM (Viton) – Standard:
✓ -10°C to +180°C
✓ Oils and fuels
✓ Many process fluids
✓ Higher temperatures
NBR:
✓ -15°C to +80°C
✓ Air
✓ Water
✓ Neutral gases
✓ Mineral oils
HNBR:
✓ -40°C to +150°C
✓ Air
✓ Water
✓ Oils
✓ Low-temperature service
EPDM:
✓ -5°C to +130°C
✓ Water
✓ Hot water
✓ AdBlue / DEF / AUS 32
✓ Suitable aqueous fluids
For AdBlue / DEF applications, select the EPDM seal configuration rather than the standard FKM version.
Always confirm chemical compatibility before using the valve with aggressive chemicals, fuels, oxygen or unusual process fluids.

Media Temperature

The maximum media temperature is determined by the selected seal material and suitable solenoid operator.
FKM (Viton): -10°C to +180°C
NBR: -15°C to +80°C
EPDM: -5°C to +130°C
HNBR: -40°C to +150°C
Overall available range: -40°C to +180°C

Flow Performance

Orifice size: 20mm
Flow rate: 72 L/min water @ 1 Bar ΔP
The large 20mm assisted-lift diaphragm provides substantially increased flow capacity compared with the smaller 3/8" and 1/2" SPU220 models.
Unlike conventional pilot-operated diaphragm valves, the zero-rated assisted-lift construction does not require a positive inlet-to-outlet pressure differential to initiate operation.
This makes the SPU220A-06 particularly useful for low-pressure water systems, tank applications, vacuum equipment and industrial process systems where differential pressure may vary.

Coil & Electrical

Coil power: 15W
Insulation: Class H 180°C
Duty cycle: 100% continuous
Electrical connection: DIN43650A
Protection: IP65 with connector fitted
Coil construction: Thermoset resin
The standard 15W Class H operator provides maximum positive pressure capability of 7 Bar AC or 5 Bar DC.

High Flow Stainless Zero-Rated Design

The SHAKO SPU220A-06 combines corrosion-resistant 316 stainless steel construction with a large 20mm zero-rated assisted-lift diaphragm.
Its 20mm orifice provides approximately 72 L/min water flow at 1 Bar pressure differential while retaining operation from zero positive pressure and suitable vacuum conditions.
This makes the SPU220A-06 particularly useful for RO and demineralised water, chemical processing, vacuum equipment and industrial applications where brass construction may be unsuitable. For AdBlue / DEF service, the valve should be configured with EPDM seals.
The standard FKM seals provide broad compatibility and high-temperature capability for many industrial applications, while optional NBR, EPDM and HNBR seals allow the valve to be configured for specific process requirements.
The standard 15W Class H operator provides operation up to 7 Bar AC / 5 Bar DC. A separate high-pressure SPU220A-06H product is available where increased operating pressure is required.
