Description

1/2" Mechanical Condensate Drain Valve – Automatic Float Drain

The ZLDV-12 mechanical condensate drain valve provides fully automatic removal of condensate from compressed air systems without requiring electrical power, timers or solenoid valves.

Using a mechanical float-operated discharge system, the valve opens automatically when accumulated condensate reaches the required level and closes again after discharge. Unlike timed drains that operate at fixed intervals, the ZLDV-12 drains only when condensate is present, helping minimise unnecessary compressed air loss and energy consumption.

Designed for pressures up to 16 Bar, it is ideal for air compressors, receivers, refrigerated and adsorption dryers, filters, moisture separators, aftercoolers and compressed air distribution systems requiring reliable automatic condensate drainage.

How the Mechanical Float Drain Works

Condensate entering the drain collects inside the valve chamber and causes the internal float to rise.
When the condensate reaches the discharge level, the mechanical float mechanism opens the drain valve and automatically releases the accumulated liquid.
As the condensate level falls, the float lowers and the drain closes again, helping prevent unnecessary loss of compressed air.
No electrical supply, timer programming or external control system is required.

Mechanical Float Drain vs Timer Drain

A mechanical float drain operates according to the actual condensate level rather than at predetermined time intervals.
Mechanical Float Drain
✓ Drains when condensate is present
✓ No electrical supply required
✓ No timer adjustment required
✓ Minimises unnecessary air discharge
✓ Automatically adapts to condensate load
Electronic Timer Drain
✓ Drains at predetermined intervals
✓ Adjustable ON and OFF periods
✓ Suitable for predictable drain cycles
✓ Electrical supply required
✓ Digital programming available
This makes the ZLDV-12 particularly suitable where condensate levels vary and automatic demand-based drainage is preferred.

Typical Applications

Air compressors
Compressed air receivers
Refrigerated air dryers
Adsorption dryers
Coalescing filters
Compressed air filters
Moisture separators
Aftercoolers
