ATEX Ex d Stainless Steel Solenoid Valve – Rotex 24102 / 24202
The Rotex 24102 and 24202 are heavy-duty ATEX Ex d explosion-proof stainless steel solenoid valves designed for hazardous-area fluid and gas control applications requiring high flow, reliable shut-off and robust industrial construction.
Available as either 2/2 way normally closed (24102) or 2/2 way normally open (24202), the range covers port sizes from 1/2" to 3" BSP with flow orifices from 12mm to 80mm. Pressure-assisted operation provides high flow capacity at working pressures from 1 to 20 Bar, subject to maintaining the required 1 Bar minimum pressure differential.
Manufactured with a 316 stainless steel CF8 body and stainless steel internals, the range is suitable for demanding process, chemical, petrochemical, gas and industrial applications. ATEX Ex d coils are supplied with IP66/IP67 protection and are available with either aluminium or 316 stainless steel enclosures.
Valve Function & Operation
The range is available in two fail-state configurations:
Rotex 24102 – 2/2 way normally closed. The valve remains closed when de-energised and opens when electrical power is applied.
Rotex 24202 – 2/2 way normally open. The valve remains open when de-energised and closes when electrical power is applied, providing fail-open operation.
Both versions use a pressure-assisted design and require a minimum 1 Bar pressure differential for correct operation.

NPT threaded versions are available as an option.
Orifice sizes range from 12mm to 80mm, according to valve size, providing water flow rates from approximately 60 to 1000 L/min at 1 Bar pressure drop.
This broad size range makes the 24102 / 24202 suitable for both smaller high-pressure control duties and large-bore process applications requiring substantially higher flow.

Except for 12V DC, the ATEX coils are rectified and can accept either AC 50/60Hz or DC input at the specified voltage.
Manual Override Option
A push-and-turn M6 manual override is available on the normally closed Rotex 24102 version.
This allows manual valve operation during commissioning, testing or maintenance where required.
