Valve Operation

The SK520 & SK530 Series uses an external compressed air pilot signal to shift the internal valve spool, providing accurate pneumatic directional control without an electrical solenoid. Shako specifically identifies the range as externally piloted and suitable for flammable working environments.

5/2 Single Pilot:
Applying pilot pressure shifts the valve to its operating position. Removing the pilot signal allows the valve to return to its normal position.

5/2 Double Pilot:
Applying pilot pressure to either pilot port shifts the valve to the corresponding operating position. The valve remains in its last switched position until the opposite pilot signal is applied.

5/3 Double Pilot:
Applying either pilot signal shifts the valve to its respective operating position. When both pilot signals are removed, the valve returns to its selected centre position.

Centre Functions

X Centre (Exhaust Centre)
When both pilot signals are removed, the valve returns to its exhaust centre position.

This configuration is suitable for applications requiring the actuator ports to exhaust when the control signals are removed.

Y Centre (Pressurised Centre)
When both pilot signals are removed, the valve returns to its pressurised centre position.

This configuration is suitable for pneumatic circuits requiring the actuator ports to remain pressurised in the centre position.

The Shako ordering information confirms X as Exhaust Centre and Y as Pressurised Centre.
