1/8" 5/2 Way Miniature Pneumatic Solenoid Valve – VM5252
The Shako VM5252 Series is a compact, fast-acting 1/8" 5/2 way pneumatic solenoid valve designed for reliable directional control of double-acting pneumatic cylinders and actuators.
Available with either single-solenoid spring return or double-solenoid operation, the VM5252 combines a slim 16.6mm valve body with an 8.8mm² effective flow area, low-power 1.3 Watt coil and rapid operation up to 5Hz.
The compact design is particularly suitable for OEM machinery, packaging equipment, automation systems and pneumatic control panels where installation space and electrical power consumption need to be minimised.
VM5252 valves can be installed individually or assembled onto the VM5252M modular manifold system to create compact multi-station pneumatic valve islands.

The non-polarity connector is a nice feature worth retaining prominently: Shako specifically states that its purpose is to reduce the possibility of electrical short circuit during connection.
Single Solenoid Operation – VM5252-01-S
The VM5252-01-S uses a single solenoid with spring return for reliable directional control of double-acting pneumatic cylinders.
Power ON → The solenoid pilot shifts the spool, supplying compressed air to one cylinder port while exhausting the opposite port.
Power OFF → The internal spring automatically returns the valve to its normal position, reversing the airflow.
This provides a defined valve position following loss of the electrical control signal.
Double Solenoid Operation – VM5252-01-D
The VM5252-01-D uses two solenoids to provide bistable directional control.
Energising one solenoid shifts the valve into one operating position.
Energising the opposite solenoid shifts the valve into the reverse operating position.
The spool remains in its last selected position until the opposite solenoid is operated, making the double-solenoid version useful where maintained pneumatic positioning is required without continuously energising a coil.
Compact 16.6mm Design
At only 16.6mm wide, the VM5252 provides useful pneumatic flow capacity within a very small installation footprint.
The dimensional drawings on the Shako sheet show an overall length of approximately 96.5mm for the single-solenoid valve and 128.5mm for the double-solenoid version.
This makes the series particularly useful for densely populated pneumatic control panels and compact OEM machinery.
VM5252M Manifold System
The VM5252 Series can be installed onto the VM5252M modular manifold system, allowing multiple valves to share common pneumatic supply and exhaust connections.
Available manifold configurations range from 2 to 10 stations, providing a compact method of creating complete pneumatic valve islands while reducing individual pipework and installation space. The manufacturer's dimensional table confirms the progressive manifold sizes for 2–10 valve stations.
Ordering Manifold Assemblies
Individual valves and manifold assemblies are ordered separately, providing complete flexibility when configuring a pneumatic control system.
For an individual valve, select the required single or double solenoid version, voltage and thread option.
For a manifold installation, select the required VM5252M manifold with the appropriate number of stations, then add the required VM5252 valves separately.
This allows single and double-solenoid valves to be configured to suit the requirements of the pneumatic system.
