Pneumatic Quick Exhaust Valve 1/8" to 3/4" – Q Series
The Shako Q Series pneumatic quick exhaust valve is designed to increase pneumatic cylinder speed by exhausting compressed air directly to atmosphere at the cylinder rather than forcing the exhaust air to return through the directional control valve.
Available from 1/8" to 3/4" BSP with maximum flow rates from 886 to 3848 L/min, the Q Series provides a simple and effective way to reduce exhaust restriction, improve cylinder response and shorten machine cycle times.
The compact aluminium alloy construction allows the valve to be installed directly onto pneumatic cylinder ports, minimising the exhaust path for fast and efficient venting. Shako specifically identifies increased piston speed and installation directly on cylinder ports as key features of the Q Series.

In a conventional pneumatic circuit, exhaust air from a cylinder normally travels back through the tubing and directional control valve before being discharged to atmosphere. The resistance created by this exhaust path can restrict cylinder speed.
A quick exhaust valve is installed close to, or directly onto, the pneumatic cylinder port.
When pressure is supplied to the cylinder, the quick exhaust valve allows compressed air to flow normally into the cylinder.
When the directional valve reverses, the quick exhaust valve opens its exhaust path and allows the cylinder air to discharge directly to atmosphere instead of travelling back through the control valve.
The shorter, less restrictive exhaust path allows the cylinder to move faster and can significantly improve response in high-speed pneumatic machinery.
Installation
For maximum performance, install the Q Series quick exhaust valve as close as practical to the pneumatic cylinder port.
Minimising the pipe or tube volume between the cylinder and quick exhaust valve reduces the volume of air that must be exhausted and helps achieve the fastest possible cylinder response.
